Perth is an excellent base for walkers, located as it is within easy reach of upland areas such as Highland Perthshire, the Southern Highlands and Ochil Hills. Closer to home there are some wonderful short walks. This book details 20 such routes, all within 30 minutes drive of the Fair City. They include woodland walks, riverside strolls, and more strenuous hikes.
The routes range in length from just a couple of miles to longer leg-stretchers and there’s something for all ages and abilities. All promise pleasant countryside, fresh air and the chance to see a variety of flora and fauna in their natural habitat.
All of the walks in the book are accompanied by maps showing the route, text detailing it, and fact files. The fact files carry details of the start point, how to get there and the availability of parking. There is also useful information on the distance, the amount of time you should allow for the walk, the terrain you will encounter, any restrictions on dogs, and local facilities, including public toilets, picnic areas, etc.
To enhance enjoyment of the walks, the book also includes some handy tips on footwear, clothing, food and drink and recommended maps, plus useful contact information.
